About the Artist
Terrence M. Fehr

Born: Galion, Ohio, 11/9/40
Education: B.S. in Design, University of Cincinnati, 1963
Influenced by a life-long career in graphic design, I have brought this
experience to bear
in my approach to painting. A love of paper and its variety of surface and
texture seem to
predicate my focus on watercolor and monotype. Viewing the work, perhaps the
most
significant aspect is color, which ranges from subtle to vibrant, coupled with
highly patterned
areas and the gestural qualities of calligraphic shapes evolved from a continuing
interest in typography. Sometimes working totally abstractly, I am still informed
by nature.
Never ignoring the importance of brush strokes, texture, and line, I am most
concerned
with shape, and the placement of that shape within the confines of the two
dimensional
plane before me.
